We’ll take you deep into the wild heart of the Sierra Madre mountains, down winding dirt roads and remote highland passes, then descend toward the vibrant blue waters and warm sands of the Pacific coast near Puerto Vallarta. You’ll ride along pristine beaches and explore hidden coves, then trace your way into the rolling agave fields and colonial charm of the legendary town of Tequila, birthplace of Mexico’s most famous spirit.

February Is Your Time
While others are stuck indoors, you’ll be waking up to the sun, surrounded by mountains, beaches, and adventure. There is no better time—or better ride—to escape winter.

Day 1:
Arrive at the Guadalajara International Airport. Take a 40-minute taxi ride to the hotel on Lake Chapala. Have an orientation dinner at 6:00 pm.


Day 2:
Breakfast at 8:00. Leave at 10:00 for the 5-hour, mostly-dirt road ride through the Sierra Madre mountains to the Spanish-colonial-architecture town of Tapalpa. Check into the quaint and artistic Casa de Maty Hotel. Clean up, rest and have dinner at 5:00. Spend the evening on the town square, walking, resting or whatever you like!



Day 3:
Breakfast at 8:00. Ride down through the rugged valleys toward the Nevado de Colima Volcano on the border of the Mexican states of Jalisco and Colima. The route takes you through pine forests, semi arid desert and then back up into alpine forest at over 12,000 feet. Camp on the side of the volcano in the national park. Enjoy a cook out, live music and the evening around the campfire under the stars.





Day 4:
Ride through the rugged backcountry down to the Pacific Coast. Stay on Bonnie’s Macaw Reserve in the costal subtropical dry forest.

Day 5:
Tour the military macaw biosphere reserve, one of only three in Mexico. The beautiful military macaw is close to extinction in Mexico and tourism is helping in its conservation. Tour the gorgeous Vallarta Botanical Gardens and swim in the pristine river running through the mountainous gardens.
Day 6
Ride to Puerto Vallarta on the costal twisties. Spend the night at the spectacular Hacienda San Angel Hotel. Enjoy the old town city life and beaches.




Day 7:
Back to the wilds! Ride up through the Sierra Madre Mountains to the town of Tequila, the birthplace of the famous Mexican drink made from the desert agave plant.
Stay the the Matices Hotel de Barricas, a hotel with rooms made in the shape of giant wooden tequila barrels.


Day 8:
Tour La Cofradía Tequila distillery beside the hotel. Ride back to the hotel on Lake Chapala for an evening on the terrace with Richard and Deysi (the creators of Ridemex) at their house above the lake.







Day 9: Fly home from the Guadalajara International Airport just 40 minutes from the hotel on Lake Chapala.
